SATURDAY 27th AUGUST 2016

LATEST NEWS:

"Preparations are well underway for the 2016 show. We have all the usual attractions and displays for you to enjoy. Also there is the wide array of classes which you can enter. There is something there for all the family from the family pet dog show, to classes for all types of terriers and gundogs, the children's fell race for all the little ones and then if you are feeling adventurous there is the adult fell race around the Arnison Horseshoe. All we need now is a lovely sunny day! We look forward to seeing you on the day."

2015 SHOW
Well we had the weather that we had all had our fingers crossed for - the sun shone and lots of people enjoyed a lovely relaxing day in what must be one of the most scenic show fields in the country.

The competitions held throughout the day were all hotly contested providing lots of things for you all to enjoy. Probably the most exciting event of the day was the senior fell race in which the record for the race was broken. We now have a record of 22 minutes and 30 seconds for the 3 mile race. This may sound like not much of a achievement but when you think that the race involves a very steep climb which starts immediately from leaving the show field and continues to the summit of Black Crag then this is some achievement!

As in previous years the event would not be possible without all of the support we receive both financial and in practical terms. The committees gratitude to our loyal sponsors and Friends of Patterdale Dog Day as ever is immense as without the financial support our show would not be possible, but also thank you to everyone who helped both on the day and in the run up to the event to enable us to stage such a successful show. Lastly that you to all who came, without you there would be no point in holding the show

Patterdale Dog Day

Welcome to Patterdale Dog Day, our small show runs on the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday weekend and is centred around an open sheep dog trials competition. As well as the dog trial there are many other attractions and shows to keep you entertained throughout the day.

Our traditional country show is situated in one of the most beautiful locations in England.
The show field experiences the spectacular back drop of some of the most beautiful lakeland fells including part of the Helvellyn massif.

Patterdale Dog Day is one of the few remaining genuinely traditional shows. 2011's show is the 108th show to be held at Patterdale and we hope you will join us to enjoy the day.

Come to our day, stay a while amid the beauty of this lovely Lakeland dale and mingle with hill farmers, their families, local residents and visitors from around the world. Take a while to listen to the ancient Cumbrian dialect whilst enjoying the attractions for a leisurely few hours.

Among the attractions on the day include:

Open Sheep Dog Trails All Day
Terrier Show (open )
Open Gundog Show
Children's Pets Class
Show of traditional Sticks and Crooks
Ullswater Foxhound Show
Fell Race (open)

As well as the above attractions there are refreshments available all day with a catering tent together with a bar

We hope you will come away from the day with some wonderful memories together with a new found contentment and a better understanding of traditional country life.

If the above has taken your fancy then we would love to share our show with you and look forward to seeing you at King George V Playing Field, Patterdale for an enjoyable day of traditional entertainment on Saturday 27th August 2016.
